Padmabhushan Jaggaiah Remembered

Padmabhushan Jaggaiah will be remembered for years to come, not only as an actor but also as a Parliamentarian, journalist and first generation Telugu news reader in All India Radio. He was a multi faceted genius. His voice was known for its reverberating pitch.
His dialogue modulation in movies was considered as an epitome of excellence in theatricals. Teluguone remembers this great personality on his 81st Birthday, today. He was born in Morampudi village in Guntur district of A.P. on 31st December 1928 in a well to do family. He was associated with theater from an early age of eleven. He made his debut in to films with Tripuraneni Gopichand's movie "Priyuralu". He got good break in film industry with movies like Bangaru Papa and Ardhangi. The service he done to the Telugu cine industry during 1950 and '70, is unparalleled. He believed that by playing routine characters, an artiste's thirst for excellence will not be satiated. That was the reason, he always tried to do different kind of roles on screen. He turned to movie production and made a movie titled "Padandi Munduku". For his voice, oratory skills and acting talent, he was presented with many awards and recognitions. Apart from being a receipient of honorary Doctorate, he has the distinction of being the first Telugu cine artiste to be elected to the Parliament.
